Kiraz further stated, "Our target is around 150 million euros in revenue."
She also mentioned that the city's sports facilities are ready for the mid-season training camps of football teams. Noting the increased demand from both domestic and international football teams for the mid-season camp period, Kiraz said, "We are entering the year with high demand for camps. The camp period will start in January and continue until the end of March." "We expect the number of training camps, which was 1300 in 2025, to increase to 1500 next season," he said.
'TARGET: 1500 CAMPS'
Emphasizing that football teams from many countries prefer Antalya for their training camps, Nida Kiraz stated, "Preparations are underway at our facilities throughout the province. Our fields are ready, especially in the Belek region. We are seeing an increase in demand from football teams, particularly between January 15th and the end of February. We are aiming for an increase of around 15 percent this season."
INTENSE INTEREST FROM EASTERN EUROPE AND CIS COUNTRIES
Kiraz pointed out that teams from Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries are particularly prominent in terms of camp demand, saying:
"This year, we are seeing an increase in interest from Eastern European teams. We are seeing a continued increase in the number of teams coming from the Commonwealth of Independent States. We have started to accept lower league teams from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland again. This is a plus for us. We foresee that teams from higher leagues will come in the coming period." "We see this as a promising development for football tourism."
EXPECTED REVENUE FROM FOOTBALL TOURISM: 150 MILLION EUROS
Nida Kiraz, explaining the contribution of football teams' training camps to the country's economy and tourism, said, "Thanks to these training camps we are conducting in Antalya, a significant income is generated. Last year, Antalya contributed around 100 million euros to football tourism. Thanks to the increased demand, our target for this season is around 150 million euros. Sports tourism contributes to the country's economy and also enables our hotels and facilities, especially in tourism regions, to operate during the winter." "We consider sports tourism very important in terms of ensuring the continuity of employment in our hotels," he said.
'WE ARE OPENING NEW FACILITIES'
Stating that the facilities are sufficient throughout the province and that new facilities are also being built, Kiraz said, "In order to better serve football tourism, we are trying to meet the demand by opening new facilities in addition to the existing ones in Kemer, Aksu Kundu, Serik Belek, Manavgat and Alanya regions." "We hope that the mid-season training camp period will make even greater contributions to our city and country," he said.
TEAMS COMING DURING THE MID-SEASON TRAINING CAMP PERIOD
During the mid-season training camp period, dozens of teams from Türkiye, including Beşiktaş and Göztepe, as well as teams from the Super League and other leagues, and from abroad, teams such as Borussia Mönchengladbach, Paderborn, Red Star Belgrade, Red Bull Salzburg, Gornik Zabrze, Slovan Bratislava, and Rubin Kazan will come to Antalya.
ACTIVITIES AIMED AT SPORTS TOURISM
In addition to the tourism activity during the football teams' training camp period, efforts are underway in the city to expand sports tourism in the coming periods. Within this scope, a New International Sports Tourism Platform will be held from May 31st to June 3rd, 2026. As part of a 5-year cooperation agreement signed between Sports and Events World and the Sports Tourism Association (STB), the first version of the international Sports & Events B2B Fair in Türkiye will be held.
